Research For Professionals
Here's what the research says:
Below, you'll find a number of studies reproduced in their entirety.
The use of NIR Energy treatment began following the 1998 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Robert F. Furchgott, Louis J. Ignarro and Ferid Murad won the prize for their work in understanding the effects of Nitric Oxide (NO) in the blood stream.
That discovery prompted additional research, which supports the use of NIR therapy for peripheral neuropathy patients. While the research studies have been varied, the findings have been consistent.
Research supporting the approach has been presented in:
The Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association (March-April 2005)
Journal of Diabetes and its Complications (June 2005)
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology (March 2009)
Acta Diabetologica (December 2005)
Advances in Skin & Wound Care (July-August 2004)
Additionally, research on the combination of PT and NIR has indicated notable effectiveness. These results were reported in:
Physical & Occupational Therapy in Geriatrics (2005)
Federal Practitioner (September 2015)
